São Miguel is the largest of the archipelago’s nine islands; it is commonly known as the Ilha Verde (Green Island) and provides a rewarding introduction to the Azores. This walking holiday allows you to see the very best that this island has to offer at a very leisurely pace so that you can really appreciate all that the island has to offer. Transfer from airport to Hotel Terra Nostra, Furnas
A walk to enjoy around Furnas lake with time to visit the Botanical Gardens, 10km/ 6.3miles. Overnight Furnas
A walk along old donkey trails following the coastline to the fishing village of Ribeira Quente, either a return by taxi or you continue walking back to Furnas, 12km/7.5miles
A choice of walks: either walking down through pastures and the 'pitosporum forest' to Faial da Terra or a short walk along the Salto do Prego to Faial da Terra, return transfer by taxi. Overnight Furnas
Transfer by taxi to your hotel in Ponte Delgada. During the trip you will visit the most beautiful viewpoints of the north coast and a tea plantation (unique in Europe).
A walk to Lagoa do Fogo, the most remote lake of the Azores which can only be reached on foot. Afterwards, you walk along a “levada” through mountains and valleys with beautiful views to a beach where you can take a swim, 12.6km/7.8miles. Overnight Ponta Delgada
A walk along the edge of the Sete Cidades crater with its blue and green lakes. This truly is a spectacular walk which offers you a beautiful view the whole time not only of the lakes but also of the sea. The walk ends in the centre of the crater where there will be time to walk along the lake side, return transfer by taxi, 14.5km/9miles Overnight Ponta Delgada.
